KATIE BUNNELL, JESSIE HIGGINSON & ISMINI SAMANIDOU
14 OCT – 06 NOV 2021
WED – SUN / 10 AM – 4 PM
Mesh, Loop & Line is a collaboration between Katie Bunnell, Jessie Higginson and Ismini Samanidou exploring line and form in the creation of ceramics, prints, weavings, sculpture and film.
Bunnell, Higginson and Samanidou have created new works in dialogue with each other and co-curated an exhibition to visually speak of their common interest in ‘line’.
The three artists have collaborated before, Mesh, Loop and Line invites them to re-connect, inform, invigorate and challenge each other’s practice while engaging new audiences with explorations across their materials.
Earlier this year, the artists undertook a residency at Clayhill Arts where they had time and space to play, investigate and share each other’s materials and making processes. Katie Bunnell used paper, ink and card to explore mark making, painting and layering techniques for ceramic surfaces, Jessie Higginson took her printmaking practice into a physical form, turning 2D lines into 3-dimensions, and Ismini Samanidou explored circles and circular motion, making films and drawing machines.
This exhibition brings together their experimental sketches, samples and studies alongside new ceramic, film, textile and sculpture works. It invites you into their creative practice and takes delight in exploring the words: mesh, loop and line.
